Process summary
Development Ratings uses an in-depth research process before awarding any ratings. All ratings are carried out in an interaction with the organisations being analysed and all final charity ratings are screened by an independent research advisory committee.
Methodology
Development Ratings’ analytical method for rating charities is based on gaining a fundamental understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the charity’s operations, exactly what development goals it sets itself and an assessment of how able it has been and will be in delivering a development impact.
Development impact is highly dependent on a number of factors including the environment in which the organisation is working, whether the methods it uses are new and unproven or tried and tested, and its ‘age’ and track record.
The recommended charities are 'best-of-the-breed' organisations that make substantial difference in the challenging environment they operate in.
