to understand the value of Development Ratings' work.
This category includes a selection of the main quasi-public, government, intergovernmental, and multilateral institutions that have a say in formulating policy and projects in the least developed countries. These institutions are responsible for a large proportion of the funding of the organisations that Development Ratings’ recommends. They also help mobilise risk capital in areas where the private sector is not willing to step in. Knowing what these institutions do is fundamental to understanding the context that the organisations we recommend work in.
The links in this category are to a selection of large and well-known development organisations that work in the least developed countries. In addition to having their own projects these ‘blue chips’ may provide funds to some of the smaller development organisations that Development Ratings’ recommends.
This category provides links to sites for think-tanks, portals and other institutions that provide research and intelligence on development as well as on the management of non-profits and the industry in general. This category includes a selection of sources that are relevant to understanding the nature, scope and reasons for philanthropic funding of charities. We provide links to large trusts and foundations that commit funds to charitable purposes and which are involved in setting the strategy for the funding community as well as to organisations that are involved in furthering ‘venture philanthropy’ and ‘intelligent’ giving.
This category includes links to organisations or networks that aim to bridge the gap between companies and the work of non-profit organisations. The rationale for corporate funding and partnerships with development organisations is strong and Development Ratings believes that this will be an important element in the future success of the organisations that we recommend.

Development Ratings is in this category and is unique in our provision of recommendations and focus on small organisations that work in the least developed countries.
