Build Africa raises funds under the slogan of ‘Build a School; Build a Business; Build a Farm’. The existing donor database will be extended, alongside other appeals and fundraising strategies. The new development focus means that the charity is now eligible for institutional donations which will form part of its new fundraising drive. Trust income has been very successful as well, increasing by 40% so far in 2008. The ‘Build a School’ campaign attracted attention via some celebrities in quiz shows in late 2007. The Conservative Party leader, David Cameron, had a link to Build Africa’s website on his homepage for a time.
Build Africa wants to increase funding to develop the schools development plans programme and the agri-business projects. At the time of visiting earlier in 2008, there was a leak in the office roof, underlying the charity’s need for new office space! Generally, funding for the reorganisation and new focus is wanted, so that more young people can be helped with their education and enterprise development.
