Afghan Connection organises and funds the building of schools and provides medical training and equipment in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan has suffered from war, conflict or oppression since 1979. Much of the country’s educational and medical infrastructure was damaged or destroyed.
Girls were banned from attending school under the Taliban. Women were banned from working. Boys also lost out on education as schools lost their female staff.
Over 25,000 children have benefitted from constructing and equipping schools.
17,000 Afghan women die each year from pregnancy-related causes. 14,000 a year could be saved by extending midwifery and obstetric care, skills and capacity. Recently trained obstetric staff can treat over 80,000 women/year.
