Africa Now was founded in 1981. The charity is headquartered in Oxford but the bulk of field projects are managed from two offices in Kenya (one in Nairobi and one in Kisumu in western Kenya, Africa Now’s main area of operations). There is a small office in Zambia and a charity representative based in Namibia.
A number of other mainly for-profit organisations offer ethical audits: Africa Now’s focus is on producers in and exporters from Africa and on local working conditions. MicroLoan Foundation (see Development Ratings report) also helps small businesses develop in Zambia.
