Steps have been taken to strengthen financial systems, both in the UK and the African offices, and to build unrestricted funds. In addition, Moredun Foundation is being supportive until the financial position strengthens. Income from trusts may be affected by the current financial crisis, undermining projects.
There may be medical risks for staff, particularly from animal diseases that are contagious to humans. There are also security risks, in Somaliland in particular, and Kenya recently. Local staff are employed more often than not, reducing this risk. So far, there have been no problems.
