To diversify away from institutional funds, BasicNeeds also targets trusts and foundations and corporate donors. High net worth donors are being developed through personal contacts and relationships with the CEO.
The main wish list item is support for the development of the franchise concept. This is likely to cost another £150-190,000 over the next 3-5 years. Further, £5,000 would help support research work to include mentally ill people in the programmes of other NGOs. £10,000 would pay for a day centre for elderly mentally ill people in Sri Lanka. A drop-in centre in Ghana to support destitute mentally ill people would cost £20,000. £50,000 would extend a new pilot project in Tanzania to help children forced to care for mentally ill relatives.
